It’s going to be a big week for AEW and NJPW as the Forbidden Door pay-per-view is set to air live on Sunday, and AEW is gearing up for another Blood & Guts match on Wednesday.
Originally Bryan Danielson was set to be part of Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts, but he appeared on Dynamite this week and announced that he’s not cleared to compete. Danielson also announced that he has hand picked his replacement which has caused the rumor mill to run wild.
Johnny Gargano is one of the names that seems to be coming up in regards to Bryan’s replacement as he’s set to be in Chicago on Sunday, the same city where Forbidden Door is taking place from. However, Gargano denied any involvement with the show when he posted the following on Twitter:
“I promise you this is ridiculously coincidental and has been booked for months. I’ll only be in Chicago for like 8 hours!
*I also realize in saying this that only like 5% of you are going to believe I’m actually telling the truth. 🤣”

Johnny Gargano parted ways with WWE back in December when his contract expired and he has yet to return to wrestling. Bryan’s replacement will face Zach Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door, and they will also team up with the Blackpool Combat Club to face the Jericho Appreciation Society at Blood & Guts. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
