WWE is currently in the process of making new stars and they’re doing a great job. The WWE veterans are doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing right now as they establish the next generation. They’ve all had their run at the top and it’s time for the new guys to have their turn. Still, even after all the glory that these 5 WWE veterans have seen throughout their careers, we can’t help but feel like we would love to see them win the big one just one more time before they call it a day for good.
#5 – Mark Henry
[youtube_sc url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gnLVFfWx4c”]
After years of working in the midcard Mark Henry finally realized his full potential when he defeated Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011. What followed that victory was a stellar World Championship run that was at the forefront of the SmackDown brand for a few months. It was Mark Henry’s one and only World Championship run (not including the ECW Title) to date and he knocked it out of the park.
Mark Henry has really come into his own in the last few years and although it took him a long time to get to the top of the card, he finally did it. Since winning his first World Championship Henry has proved he’s both a reliable and believable champion. One needs to look no further than his fake retirement promo from 2013 to see just how good this man can be when given the chance. He should have defeated John Cena for the title at Money in the Bank 2013 but we hope that wasn’t the last time we get to see Mark Henry fight for the richest prize in the industry.
#4 – The Big Show
[youtube_sc url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgsEDIyJcIY”]
The Big Show has proved time and time again that when WWE needs a reliable main eventer to step up, he’s someone they can count on. No matter how old he gets Big Show always finds a way to reinvent himself and his last World Heavyweight Championship run was no exception.
Although he looks better than ever in the ring, Big Show can’t have too much gas left in the tank. Sooner than later this wrestling legend is going to have to call it a day, but before he does, we would like to see him go out on top.
#3 – Kane
[youtube_sc url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2HQ_Npd7ZQ”]
Kane has made a career out of making other people look good and he’s without a doubt a future WWE Hall of Famer. Looking back on the storied career he’s had so far, it’s hard to believe that he only has two World Championship wins (once again not including the ECW World Championship) to his name.
WWE finally gave him a legitimate World Heavyweight Championship run in 2010 but we want to see him hold the WWE Championship just one more time. It doesn’t have to be a long title reign, but it has to be longer than 24 hours like the last time he won the belt. This man has given his all to WWE and it would be a feel good moment to see him add one more WWE Championship win to his resume.
#2 – Rob Van Dam
[youtube_sc url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLchz-8730o”]
Rob Van Dam was once considered the greatest wrestler to never hold a World Championship before he won the big one in 2006. Unfortunately his title reign didn’t last long, as a matter of fact it went up in smoke, literally.
The reason why we want to see RVD win the WWE Championship one more time is because he never got that picture perfect title reign he so richly deserves. Some people say RVD has lost a step or two due to age but he’s still more than capable of stealing the show whenever he wants to. This one may be unlikely to happen, but every RVD fan out there wants a legitimate World Title reign that they can associate with Rob’s career.
#1 – Chris Jericho
[youtube_sc url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox7MlFukY7c”]
Chris Jericho has made it pretty clear that the only thing he wants to do in wrestling at this point is help establish the next generation. Although he may not have a desire to hold the WWE Championship again, the fans would love to see it happen.
Anytime Chris Jericho steps in the ring or grabs a mic you know you’re about to witness something special. There’s nothing this man can’t do and he just looks right with a World Championship around his waist. We want to see Chris Jericho help the next generation get established but we also wouldn’t mind him doing it as a World Champion. Who says we can’t have our cake and eat it too?
