In the world of professional wrestling respect has to be earned, and it was recently reported that WWE released creative team member Kenice Mobley after she received backlash from fans over comments she made on the Asian Not Asian podcast.
During the appearance Mobley revealed that she was recently hired to be a writer for the Monday Night Raw brand, and that WWE didn’t require her to have any knowledge of professional wrestling prior to taking the job.
The former WWE writer sent social media into a frenzy when she also revealed that she did not know if the current WWE Champion was named Bobby Lashley or Bobby Ashley.
Fightful Select is now reporting that WWE sources claimed the negative comments from fans contributed to Kenice Mobley being released from WWE.
It’s being said that a number of WWE talents and employees felt disrespected by Kenice Mobley’s comments, and the fact that she didn’t know the characters in WWE.
WWE officials reportedly discourage writers from speaking out about their job. It’s also being said that it’s not rare for WWE to hire writers with no knowledge of the product, but usually writers are expected to make an effort to learn.
