Aleister Black had been sitting on the sidelines since October of 2020, but he returned to TV a few weeks ago and he seemingly kicked off a feud with Big E when he hit him with Black Mass during the SmackDown main event.
However, fans aren’t going to be seeing a continuation of the Black vs. Big E feud because earlier today WWE announced that Aleister Black has been released from his contract.
Fightful Select reports that many people who involved with putting the storyline together didn’t know that Aleister Black was set to be released. However, WWE creative writers were recently told to stop pitching ideas for Black, but they weren’t told why. It’s also being said that there was no long term endgame planned for the Big E vs. Aleister Black feud.
Recently it’s been rumored that Black’s real life wife Thea Trinidad, formerly known as Zelina Vega, could be returning to WWE, but it’s being reported that it hasn’t been confirmed she’s signed a deal with the company.
The Wrestling Observer Twitter account noted that during a Twitch stream Aleister Black said he was released due to budget cuts.
