It’s been a while since fans have seen Andrade on WWE programming, but the wrestling world has been talking a lot about the former NXT Champion as of late thanks to the fact that he requested to be released from WWE.
Now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Andrade filed to trademark the name La Sombra, and that it looks like his goal is to use the name in the United States. Andrade previously used the La Sombra name in CMLL.
It was also noted that his real life fiancé Charlotte Flair pushed to be paired with Andrade on TV, but the idea was turned down.
There’s speculation that Andrade and Thea Trinidad, formerly known as Zelina Vega, could match up and work together outside of WWE.
As of this writing Andrade’s release request has not been granted, and it’s likely that he will have to wait until his contract expires before he can work elsewhere.
Andrade recently commented on the release request when he posted the following on Twitter:
“The rumors are true and I don’t know what the future holds but I want to make my dreams come true. Thank you for giving me so much support these last days.”
