Anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling, and on Wednesday it was announced that Big Show had finished up with WWE and signed a long-term deal with All Elite Wrestling.
The news came as a shock to fans all around the world, and according to Fightful Select a lot of the talent backstage in WWE did not know that Big Show was leaving the company.
It was also noted that some people higher up in the company knew that Paul Wight would be leaving the company at the end of the month.
The AEW locker room was also reportedly just as surprised to find out that Wight had signed with the company. It’s being said that the reaction to the former WWE Champion signing with AEW is positive, and that many young stars are willing to learn from him.
While some AEW sources claimed they didn’t know of Paul Wight’s signing, some are more in the know than others. Most didn’t know about Sting’s signing until he arrived in December. However, AEW Executive Vice Presidents such as The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were involved in signing Sting, but had to keep it a secret.
Fightful also noted that a source close to Paul Wight said that “major life events” influenced his decision to sign with AEW.
