AEW Dynamite and NXT have been going head to head on Wednesday nights since October of 2019, but according to Chuck Taylor of Best Friends he’s not buying into the idea of a “fake, bulls**t rivalry” between the two brands.
Taylor recently appeared on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, and he pointed out that he’s friends with many of the wrestlers in NXT, and he wants them to succeed.
“People talk about this fake, bulls**t rivalry between AEW and NXT. But they [members of the NXT roster] are all my friends. Like, common, I was actually a groomsman in Johnny Gargano’s wedding. I want them to succeed, too. Obviously, not at our expense, I hope they lose and die forever, but those are all my friends. Pretty much everyone on NXT TV I know pretty well.”
AEW Dynamite has come out ahead of NXT in terms of viewership most weeks since the shows started airing on Wednesday nights.
It was recently reported that WWE officials are considering the idea of possibly moving NXT to a different night.
Chris Jericho recently commented on AEW beating NXT in the ratings and called AEW’s victories embarrassing while suggesting that NXT should move to another night of the week.
