It’s no big secret that Cody Rhodes has been trying to trademark various names from past WCW pay-per-views and other events, but it looks like WWE is opposing one of Cody’s trademarks.
According to the USPTO, Cody Rhodes filed to trademark “Slamboree” and “The Match Beyond” back in November.
WWE filed to oppose both trademarks on 4/23, and the company has filed for 90 days to oppose the filing. The company now has until 4/22 to file an official opposition or to request another extension for the trademarks.
WWE gave the following reason for the requests: “The potential opposer needs additional time to investigate the claim.”
As we previously reported, Cody recently filed to trademark his name “Cody Rhodes” on 4/13 just 24 hours after WWE’s trademark expired.
Slamboree was a pay-per-view name created by Dusty Rhodes when he was with WCW, and The Match Beyond refers to the War Games match.
