Daniel Bryan is widely regarded as one of the greatest pro wresters in the world but he can’t wrestle right now. Although that might change soon enough the fact remains Daniel Bryan must remain on the sidelines but he’s using his time well.
Not only is Bryan enjoying his life as a new father and a terrific husband to Brie Bella, but he’s also enjoying the kind of pro wrestling he likes to watch. The Bearded GOAT recently spoke to Edge and Christian on their Pod Of Awesomeness where he discussed some of the wrestling he really enjoys today.
He also really put one New Japan talent over for being able to do a style Bryan said he was too afraid to attempt while in WWE.
“And then the G1 Climax just happened, the tournament for New Japan, right? And I wrestled Zack Sabre Jr. — I don’t know what year it was 2007 or something like that when he was really, really young. And so I started watching some of the G1 stuff and the Kenny Omega stuff is just awesome — he’s just kicking ass and a lot of the guys over there are kicking ass.”
“And I was watching Zack Sabre and he is just like — I kinda cultivated this style on the independents where I would do a lot of mat wrestling but I would try to turn it really vicious, right? Like a vicious style of mat wrestling that I’m not sure I was ever really able to bring to WWE because I was afraid it would be too slow for the casual TV audience. I’m watching Zack doing this stuff and like dammit, he’s doing it better than I ever did it.”
