5 Things We Want To See AJ Styles Do During His First Year With WWE

AJ Styles has had an incredible career so far. He’s wrestled all over the world and he’s held many prestigious championships over the years. But he’s only just arrived in the WWE. It doesn’t mat how far AJ has come because he still has a long way to go before he reaches the very top of the industry.

There are a lot of things that AJ Styles will look to accomplish during his run in WWE. From WrestleMania to Raw, singles gold to tag team gold, the opportunities are out there. It’s going to be a big year for AJ Styles and these are just 5 of the things we hope to see him do in 2016.

#5 – Main Event Monday Night Raw

This one kind of seems like a no brainer doesn’t it? But if you stop and think about it, most of the stars that step foot in a WWE ring will go their entire career without ever main event Monday Night Raw. It’s easy to forget just how big of a deal it is for someone to close the show.

The main event of Monday Night Raw has helped many wrestlers make the transition from just another member of the WWE roster, to household name. The right match, with the right opportunity, with the right storyline, on the right episode of Raw can do a lot for a talent’s career. A main event match on Monday Night Raw could do a lot for the career of AJ Styles.

Once AJ Styles climbs a little bit higher on the WWE ladder there’s little doubt that we will eventually see him in a main event match on WWE’s flagship show.

#4 – Win The Intercontinental Championship

It’s probably asking a lot for AJ Styles to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship during his first year in WWE. But an Intercontinental Championship reign isn’t out of the question. The IC Title is always a nice test for an up and coming WWE Superstar to see if they’re ready to carry a championship. Of course, we all know AJ Styles is more than capable.

An IC Title reign is a pretty good thing to have on your resume and it’s definitely something AJ Styles will hopefully add to his list of accomplishments. The IC Title can be exciting when it’s held by the right person. Dean Ambrose is currently doing good things with it and when the time comes for him to drop it, AJ Styles could be a good choice to carry it next.

#3 – Have A Singles Match At WrestleMania

AJ Styles made his debut at the Royal Rumble and WWE has been treating him like a pretty big deal since then. It remains to be seen if AJ will have a match at WrestleMania 32, but it would be a mistake to leave him off the card.

AJ Styles has had one hell of a career so far, but he has yet to wrestle a match at WrestleMania. If WWE gives AJ 10 to 15 minutes to show the world what he can do on the grandest stage of them all, the world will not be disappointed.

As far as opponents go, there are a lot of great opponents AJ could step into the ring with. Put him against someone like Kevin Owens, Neville, Chris Jericho or Dean Ambrose and there’s a good chance that they will tear the house down at WrestleMania 32.

#2 – Face John Cena

AJ Styles was once the face of TNA. John Cena has been the face of the WWE for many years. Fans have been dying to see the two franchise players lock up and now they’re both part of the same roster.

This match has been years in the making and sooner or later, it’s going to happen. When it does happen it’s going to be an instant classic. WWE doesn’t acknowledge TNA so the commentators won’t be able to sell the franchise vs franchise aspect of the match up. But the fans will know what’s up and this match is almost guaranteed to give them their money’s worth.

#1 – Win The Money In The Bank Briefcase

Alright, alright, we already know what you’re going to say. He hasn’t been in WWE, he hasn’t earned it, he hasn’t paid his dues etc. etc. But AJ Styles is a big deal right now and WWE is going to want to keep it that way. The best way to keep the buzz going for an extended period of time would be to give him the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Fans are already dying to see AJ Styles challenge for the WWE Championship, but really, there’s no rush. AJ Styles has the potential to be a big player in WWE for many years to come. But in order for that to happen they have to build him up the right way.

Giving AJ Styles the Money in the Bank briefcase would give WWE a chance to build AJ up for a full year if they so choose. But it would also add suspense to WWE programming. We all know how much fun it can be when the Money in the Bank briefcase is held by someone that you actually want to be WWE Champion.
