5 Signs That The WWE Will Be In Better Hands When Triple H Takes Over

WWE takes a lot of flack lately from the fans for a lot of reasons. Some WWE flag bearers will swear up and down all day long that it’s the fans that are wrong and they should just sit back and enjoy the product you get instead of the one you wish WWE would give you. People can bicker about that all day long but the truth is, people wouldn’t be complaining if WWE was getting it right.

WWE is in desperate need of some new blood in charge and Triple H seems to be the right man for the job. Vince has been grooming him for years and he does have power but there’s only so much Triple H can do when Vince McMahon has the final say. Vince built the empire and made it a global phenomenon but recently he’s become to WWE what George Lucas was to Star Wars. He created something great but he’s also out of touch when it comes to what’s best for his creation.

Vince McMahon might be out of touch but Triple H seems to have his finger on the pulse and it looks like the future is bright for WWE whenever Vince decides to step down.

#5 – He Was A Wrestler Before He Was A Suit

One of the biggest differences between Triple H and Vince McMahon is that although Vince has wrestled matches in the past, he was never a wrestler the way that Triple H was. Triple H has had a long career in the ring and he can do a much better job in regards to relating to talent that are at the bottom working their way to the top. Triple H understands the struggles that a wrestler goes through in a way that Vince McMahon likely never could. This means Triple H has a better chance at helping someone reach their full potential in a situation where Vince might give up too soon.

#4 – He Likes Longer Storylines

One of the biggest criticisms WWE fans have about the product is that storylines will often start and then stop at the drop of a hat with no explanation. Triple H addressed this during his podcast with Steve Austin noting that he’s a fan of storylines that play out over a longer period of time or as he and many fans refer to it, he enjoys the “slow burn”.

People often have high praise for the action WWE displays on TV but the storytelling is under constant scrutiny and for good reason. Let’s face it, the WWE’s storytelling (or lack thereof) is at a low point right now. Triple H acknowledged this which should give us all high hopes that he will make a conscious effort to improve it.

#3 – He Mends Fences

Remember how people thought they would never see Ultimate Warrior in a WWE ring again? How about Bruno Sammartino? Well Triple H proved that you can never say never in the wrestling business as he patched up the relationship between both of those icons and the WWE.

Vince McMahon is a genius but he has a reputation for being stubborn where Triple seems perfectly ok with putting personal differences aside for the sake of business. Since Triple H has come into power we’ve seen a lot of faces return to WWE that the fans never thought they would see again. Expect this type of trend to continue as Triple H confirmed on his recent podcast with Steve Austin, he’s more than willing to put in the effort to build a new relationship with a former star.

#2 – He Embraces The Internet

Triple H often likes to poke fun at fans on the Internet in his promos and we all find it quite entertaining. Whether he’s calling us “marks” or making fun of people for claiming they were going to cancel the WWE Network, Triple H is pretty good at letting the fans know he’s listening. A lot of fans take this the wrong way and think he’s genuinely trying to spite the fans but during his podcast with Steve Austin, Triple H pretty much told everyone that’s his way of letting the fans know he’s listening to them.

The Internet is the most powerful focus group on the entire planet. Love it or hate it, WWE gets massive amounts of instant feedback and Triple H seems to be one of the only people taking the feedback seriously. He realizes that in order to stay ahead of the game he has to keep his finger on the pulse and he does that by staying in touch with what people are saying about the product.

The lines between kayfabe and reality have been completely blurred in this day and age and the WWE can use that to their advantage. Sometimes fans care more about what happens behind the scenes than on the screen. This type of interest can be manipulated in many different ways to create some interesting stories and Triple H gets that.

#1 – NXT

Since its inception the NXT brand has been getting rave reviews all across the board. Most people know already but for those that don’t, NXT is Triple H’s baby. NXT is Triple H’s creation which means it’s a pretty good indication of where he plans to steer the ship once Vince steps down.

NXT truly seems like a next generation wrestling show. From the roster, to the storylines, to the production style, NXT just seems to have more focus than Raw. Raw seems like a show that’s been stuck in 2nd gear looking to shift to 3rd gear for quite some time now but it just can’t seem to make the transition. It’s not hard to believe that Vince is the one holding the product back from moving into the next era. But Triple H doesn’t seem to be afraid of change the way Vince is.

Triple H has also proved that he doesn’t have a prototypical superstar the way Vince McMahon does. If you look at the NXT roster you’ve got some of the best wrestlers in the world on it and they come in all shapes and sizes with all different styles. The age of the power wrestler with limited moves and giant physique is over and Triple H gets that. Fans enjoy all styles of wrestling and that’s why NXT showcases several different styles on a weekly basis.

WWE has always been good at evolving but it seems to be stuck at the moment. Is Triple H the man to lead the company into the next era of wrestling? What do you think?
