5 More Epic WrestleMania Promo Videos To Get You Excited For WrestleMania 32

WrestleMania season is a special time of year. It’s when everybody gets ready for WWE’s Super Bowl and excitement around the product is usually at an all time high.

When it comes to getting fans pumped for what’s on the card, WrestleMania promo videos go a long way. Over the years there have been many epic WrestleMania promo videos that have ended up being just as exciting as the match they were hyping up.

Today we’re going to take a look back at some of the best WrestleMania promo videos as we continue down the road to WrestleMania 32. Let’s get into it.

#5 – Mick Foley vs Edge – WrestleMania 22

On the road to WrestleMania 22, Edge lost his WWE Championship to John Cena in a match where Mick Foley acted as the special referee. Edge was out of the title picture and he needed a Mania match, so he set his sights on Foley.

The story of the match was that Edge needed a big name to face at WrestleMania, and Mick Foley still needed that one career defining WrestleMania moment. Foley turned down Edge’s offer for a traditional wrestling match, and instead challenged him to a hardcore match. Edge later accepted the match after hitting Foley in the head with a steel chair.

Foley hadn’t had a WrestleMania match since WrestleMania 16, so the promo video was used to remind fans that he isn’t someone you want to provoke. The video sold the idea that there’s nothing Foley won’t do to get his moment and in the end he got it.

Mick Foley went on to spear Edge through a flaming table at WrestleMania 22 and wrestling fans still talk about the moment all the time. Mick got his moment, Edge got his match and this video helped build up the conflict between two of the best WWE Superstars of all time.

#4 – The Undertaker vs Triple H – WrestleMania 28

By the time WrestleMania 28 rolled around, The Undertaker and Triple H had already fought at WrestleMania twice. Going for three matches with the same opponent at WrestleMania is tough, but it can be done and they proved it once again at WrestleMania 28.

Triple H and The Undertaker faced off in Hell in a Cell and the theme of the match was that it was the end of an era. This promo video helped sell the idea that the stakes were high for this match even though these two had faced off twice before at Mania. The match ended up being arguably the best of their three WrestleMania matches and this video, along with Metallica’s “The Memory Remains” captures the story perfectly.

#3 – John Cena vs The Miz – WrestleMania 27

We get it, you’re probably thinking about how this was one of the worst WrestleMania main events of all time. Look, we’re not going to argue with you, it wasn’t that great. But the pre-match hype video is undeniably epic.

The video told the story of the path that The Miz took to get to the WrestleMania main event and it did a great job at convincing everyone he had earned it. Whether you loved him or hated him, it was hard not to respect what he had done after watching this WrestleMania promo video.

In only a few short years The Miz went from “The Real World,” to the host of SmackDown, to the main event of WrestleMania 27. The song “Hate Me Now” by Nas proved to be the perfect choice for this video. It was just another way for The Miz to let his haters know that in the end, he called his shot and proved everyone wrong.

#2 – Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle – WrestleMania 21

There’s a reason why people call Shawn Michaels “Mr. WrestleMania.” It’s because he consistently stole the show at the event, and his WrestleMania 21 match against Kurt Angle was no exception. Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle was a dream match, and the WWE production team put together a video that made the feud look like it had been brewing for almost a decade.

The video hyped up how Kurt Angle was a big name in amateur wrestling in 1996 while Shawn Michaels was becoming a big name in professional wrestling. The promo package managed to show the parallels between the careers of both men and it helped to add more drama to the match.

The match is still highly regarded as one of the best, if not the best WrestleMania match of Shawn Michaels’ career, which is a testament to how talented both guys are. The in ring action was superb, and this promo helped to add even more emotion and drama to the contest.

#1 – Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit – WrestleMania XX

Obviously some will consider this a controversial choice. But for the sake of argument let’s just leave the controversy at the door, and talk about this match for what it was. To put it simply, this match was legendary.

Chris Benoit had one hell of a performance at the 2004 Royal Rumble, and he earned the right to main event WrestleMania XX. Benoit then decided to jump from SmackDown to Raw and insert himself right in the middle of an epic feud between Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

This story had many layers. The built in rivalry between Triple H and HBK was enough to carry it, but Benoit’s long journey to the top of the WWE also came into focus. What we ended up with was an emotional match where everybody had a lot to lose.

The match told an awesome story and it also has the distinction of being the first triple threat match to main event WrestleMania. The conflict leading up to the match was unique and unforgettable. Although this match is now overlooked for obvious reasons, the drama of the story lives on in this epic WrestleMania promo video.
