Alberto Del Rio was suspended a few weeks ago for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy. Del Rio’s suspension was set to end this month, but it was reported earlier in the week that the former WWE World Champion will not be returning to the company when his suspension ends.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Alberto Del Rio was promised a big push, and Vince McMahon also reportedly promised him that he would become a Heyman guy.

When Alberto Del Rio returned to the company in October of 2015, Vince McMahon treated Del Rio well by flying with him on the company jet, and sometimes sitting next to him. Del Rio’s main event push that he was reportedly promised obviously never happened.

The original plan was to make Alberto Del Rio WWE’s big hispanic babyface, but after he returned he worked as a heel and then aligned himself with Zeb Colter. The Del Rio/Colter pairing was apparently Vince McMahon’s idea, and as well saw, the Mex-America angle didn’t do so well.

The report also mentions that Alberto Del Rio was seen as a Vince McMahon guy, and that his problems were with Triple H. But it was also noted that if Vince McMahon did want him to stay, he would have tried harder to keep him around.
