Asuka is the current NXT Women’s Champion, and in a sense she’s become somewhat of an icon in NXT. Not only is she the current NXT Women’s Champion, but she’s also undefeated, and she recently surpassed Goldberg’s historic undefeated streak from his WCW days.

The Empress of Tomorrow has dominated the women’s division ever since she arrived in NXT, but now it looks like her reign could be in jeopardy. WWE has announced that Asuka will defend her NXT Women’s Championship on the June 28th episode of NXT, and she will defend it in a Last Woman Standing Match.

Following the events that took place on the June 14th episode of WWE, it was decided that this stipulation is the next logical step for the Asuka/Cross rivalry. The following announcement was posted on WWE.com:

“The extreme stipulation was a logical next step in Asuka and Cross’s rivalry after the two brawled throughout Full Sail University on the June 14 episode of NXT. Along with Ruby Riot, they competed in a Triple Threat Elimination Match for the NXT Women’s Title. After Riot had been eliminated, Asuka and Cross fought outside the arena, only to return and eventually crash through a table, leaving them laid out in a heap of carnage.”

Asuka has accomplished a lot in NXT, but there’s no denying that there isn’t much left for her to do. Could we see the end of Asuka’s reign on June 28th?
