triple h

Last week WWE announced that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will be serving as Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown Live respectively, and many were surprised to see that Triple H didn’t end up landing one of the roles.

Dave Meltzer talked about the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, and noted that it was “very telling” that the company didn’t go with Triple H because he knows the product and the roster better than anyone.

With Triple H expected to become the successor of WWE eventually there was a fear that if he failed with an Executive Director role on SmackDown it would look bad, particularly with the blue brand moving to FOX.

It’s being said that not giving him the job was a way of protecting him.

It’s also being said that some people looked at him as the most likely candidate for the role because of his knowledge of the business and his ability to produce shows in NXT that get over with the audience.
