Kevin Owens has come a long way since he made his debut on the main roster and confronted John Cena on Raw in 2015. When he first joined the main roster, he was still the NXT Champion, and he has since won the Universal Championship, Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship.

Owens has also feuded with some of the top stars in WWE, but you only get one chance to make a first impression and it all started with his main roster debut.

During an appearance on the Talk Is Jericho podcast, Owens talked about how wrestlers always told him that you need to build a relationship with Vince McMahon if you work for WWE, and he shared the story of his first real conversation with Vince.

Kevin Owens noted that he had a meeting with Vince before his main roster debut and McMahon said that he didn’t want the other wrestlers to know what he was doing that night.

Owens then asked for a little advice in regards to how he should remain inconspicuous backstage while wearing his ring gear.

“You want me in my gear right?” Kevin asked, to which Vince replied, “Yup.”

“When I put my gear on, and I walk in the locker room and stuff, and in the hallway, the other wrestlers will see me and ask me why I have my gear on,” Kevin said. “So, what should I tell them?”

“Well, why don’t you just tell them to go f**k themselves,” Vince replied.

It sounds like the first conversation between Vince and Owens was one KO will never forget.

It also seems like Owens and McMahon have built up a pretty good relationship over the last few years, as Owens has since become a top star in WWE, and he’s even had the privilege of taking Vince McMahon out with a headbutt.
