Seth Rollins defended the WWE Universal Championship against The Fiend inside Hell in a Cell on Sunday night, and the referee stopped the match after Seth Rollins piled a chair, a ladder and a tool box on The Fiend’s head and hit it with a sledgehammer.

The finish wasn’t well received, as fans at the arena started chanting “AEW” and “we want refunds” among other things.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the finish was Vince McMahon’s call, and the level of offense in the match was also Vince’s call.

Sapp also noted that one backstage source told him Vince McMahon initially laughed off the reaction from the crowd.

Another source went on to say that Vince McMahon knew he messed up and was taking the negative reaction from the fans seriously.
