For a few years Alberto Del Rio was one of WWE’s top stars, and he managed to capture championship gold several times during his two runs with the company.
Recently the former WWE Champion claimed that he was in talks with WWE, and that he expected to be back with the company at some point this year.
However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there is no truth to that story at all.
It’s also being said that Alberto Del Rio was categorized alongside CM Punk as someone Vince McMahon doesn’t really want to do business with.
It was also noted that while Vince may not want to work with Punk, there’s always a possibility that WWE would make a play for him only to keep him from AEW, whereas the company isn’t concerned about the same situation when it comes to Del Rio.
