It’s been rumored for a while now, but this week on Raw the Universal Title match for WWE Fastlane was officially confirmed. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho made their way to the ring to cut a promo and they were interrupted by Goldberg. During the segment Goldberg challenged Kevin Owens to a Universal Title match at Fastlane, and Chris Jericho accepted the match on Kevin’s behalf and the match is now official.

It should be interesting to see how things play out at Fastlane, as Goldberg also confirmed that he will be facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33.

Goldberg made his return to WWE in the fall of 2016, and he faced off against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Goldberg made short work of Brock Lesnar and then he announced that he would be entering the Royal Rumble the next night on Raw.

During the Royal Rumble match, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar faced off again, and it was Goldberg who got the best of Lesnar when he eliminated him.

When you take their two recent encounters and Goldberg’s victory over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 20 into consideration, it certainly seems like Goldberg has Brock Lesnar’s number, and he has nothing to lose at WrestleMania 33.

However, Goldberg is 2-0 against Brock Lesnar, and it’s rumored that Goldberg will be taking the Universal Title off Kevin Owens’ hands at Fastlane.

With two losses hanging over his head, Brock Lesnar won’t be taking Goldberg lightly at WrestleMania. If the Universal Title does end up becoming a prop that’s involved in Goldberg vs. Lesnar III, and it seems likely that it will at this point, may the wrestling gods have mercy on us all if Brock Lesnar walks out with the title and disappears until SummerSlam.
