WWE’s historic Brand Extension has opened the window for many former WWE superstars after it has been speculated that WWE is set to resign many of them back to the company to make up numbers.

There have been many names rumoured to be stepping back between WWE’s ropes with the only official returnee being announced as Shelton Benjamin, who should make his return on the SmackDown brand soon.

As well as superstars it seems that WWE is also set to resign some of their former female talent including Melina and Victoria.

Melina is a former multi-time Women’s and Divas Champion and would add a depth of experience to the SmackDown brand if she was set to return to the blue half of the extension.

She is currently touring the Independent Circuit and is set to appear in the UK in October which means that she could be set to join WWE after this time, which would be just in time for Nikki Bella’s return to allow the two to embark on their rumoured rivalry.

Nikki is currently still training and rehabbing at the WWE Performance Centre after her return following neck surgery and it seems she could be there for a while given that recent reports suggest that she will be missing out on this years SummerSlam.

Victoria is one of WWE’s former Women’s Champions and perhaps one of the only women who could actually put up a fight against Nia Jax. Victoria was incredibly strong and was considered to be one of the most athletic women of her generation. Following her departure from WWE Victoria headed over to TNA and had a huge amount of success for the much smaller promotion.

Victoria has been out of the wrestling business for a while but has began speculation after she posted the following on her Twitter account:

“I was told by @Stitchedupadam that this week’s WWE Smackdown is a must see. Not sure why. Hmmmm”

Many fans are now speculating that the Black Widow could be set to make her WWE return on this weeks live episode of SmackDown. Shockingly Victoria would have potentially made more of an impact on Raw but it seems if the Tuesday night show is set to gain the former Women’s Champion then they must have a plan in mind for her.

Nikki Bella and Melina could head over to Raw instead given that the red brand is the one that currently has the Women’s Championship in the tight grasp of Sasha Banks. Along with Charlotte, Summer Rae, Paige, Dana Brooke and Alicia Fox it could be argued that Raw does currently have the most competitive Women’s Division so it would be the right place for Nikki Bella to return to.

Nikki also has history with Charlotte after she took the Divas Championship from her almost a year ago at Night of Champions, so it could be a potential story line if both women end up on the same roster.

It would be incredible for the WWE Universe if the company were set to resign two of the last era’s biggest female stars, as well as the fact that Lita has now landed a new position within the company, it will be interesting to see how many more familiar female faces make a return to WWE in the coming months.

SmackDown’s much younger brand of women does lack experience now that many of the women are former NXT stars who were brought up during the draft, Natalya adds the experience and knowledge that the roster has been missing, but it would be impressive if Nattie was given an experienced partner in her effort to overcome Becky Lynch.

With the women on the current roster SmackDown has the potential to be the most competitive women’s division despite the fact that it is still without a Women’s Championship to fight for. The fact that WWE are thinking about the future of the company and ensuring that they invite females that the new talent can learn from is a great sign of things to come.

Many of the WWE Universe were unsure of whether or not the Brand Split would be a success, but given the speculation currently surrounding the company, it seems it could be a more of a success than many could have predicted.

  1. Now,with Melina,Victoria,Lita in the Broadcast booth and Nattie(with Stephanie pulling the strings in the Back, cause she’s from that Generation)You could have an Invasion Angle with an Ageist Slant, the reason being women not being seen as Viable after a certain age and these older women proving the Younger WWE UNIVERSE Wrong. It’s a Generational War! it’s the “WWE Divas” vs the “New Era Women” it’s a clash of two audiences. One from the past, one from the future.it would bring back some old Attitude era “Divas” fans who dropped out when the Monday Night Wars ended.(and maybe a cult demographic of older women 40+ who might connect with the old “wwe divas” cause they’re closer in age and might be seen as Anti-heroines)
