Daniel Bryan is the General Manager of WWE SmackDown Live, and Wednesday night he held a Q&A session on Twitter to promote the latest episode of Total Divas. Bryan previously expressed interest in Cesaro joining the SmackDown brand, and a fan asked him if he still wants to see the Swiss Superman on Tuesday nights.

Bryan confirmed that he does indeed want Cesaro to move to SmackDown Live, but he noted that he wanted Sami Zayn on SmackDown, and Sami Zayn’s run with the blue brand hasn’t exactly worked out so far.

It’s no big secret that Sami Zayn hasn’t had much luck on the main roster. In NXT he managed to claim the top spot for a little while when he won the NXT Championship, but he hasn’t reached the same level of success on Raw or SmackDown.

When Sami was first called up to the main roster fans had high hopes for him, but it seems that he just ends up getting lost in the shuffle more often than not.

A few months ago Zayn was moved to SmackDown Live during the Superstar Shake-Up, and since SmackDown is the Land of Opportunity, most fans figured it would be a perfect fit. But Sami hasn’t done much since joining SmackDown, and he hasn’t been featured in consistent feuds.

Unfortunately Zayn had to agree with Daniel Bryan’s assessment of his run on SmackDown, but hopefully his luck will change in the future.

What do you think Sami Zayn needs to do to become one of SmackDown’s top stars? Sound off in the comments below.

  1. I love Sami Zayn! He is seriously one of my favorites!! The problem I think he has is that they are keeping him at mid card because size wise that is where he fits… You see guys like john cena, roman reigns, braun strowman, and there is no way it makes sense to put him in feuds with those guys. But look on smackdown and you have top guys like Aj Styles, kevin owens, and if they would give him a legitimate push against someone like AJ I think he would do awesome! The problem is when you put him in a feud against someone like Mike Bennett, and then that feud peters out, its almost like putting kurt hawkins in a feud with anybody. Its just a joke. Give him a serious opponent, and I think he will do awesome!

    • His size is the problem? Hard to pit him against the “big guys”? For one he is the same highet as Cena,The Miz and Shawn Michaels (back when he wrestled) at 6ft tall guys like Jericho, Ziggler, Balor, AJ Styles, hell lets go old school Eddie Guerrero RIP and Rey Mysterio are smaller but have all succeeded against the big men David vs Goliath, good guy vs bad guy is what WWE was built on for decades. Sami has speed and technical ability and has put on great matches with all the guys you mentioned and more over his career he is just badly booked is all, should he be pushed to the moon for world title not yet but he is IC and U.S.A. title holder material
