Last night’s episode of Raw saw Sasha Banks named as The Number One Contender to Charlotte’s Women’s Championship, meaning that she will face her one-on-one in less than two weeks at Clash of Champions.

The ending of the match is a controversial one, to say the least, with Bayley and Sasha both claiming that they had enough reason to be number one contender and after Dana Brooke slapped the taste out of Charlotte’s mouth, it seemed a triple threat match was the only way for WWE to go.

The match was of the level we have come to expect from the likes of Bayley and Sasha but the ending of the match is open to interpretation.

With Sasha going for a variation of a jackknife pin on Bayley, she somehow landed in a position where both women had their shoulders down. The referee was in a fantastic position to see both women’s shoulders on the mat but only counted Bayley’s.

This now begs the question as to whether or not WWE intend to use this in a future storyline when Sasha and Bayley inevitably face each other for the Women’s Champion in the not too distant future or whether this was a botch of some sort.

Sasha kept her shoulders down for the entire three-count when she could have shuffled back onto her back. It gives the impression that even though the duo had faced each other many times in NXT before and even won the match of the year for their match at NXT Takeover Brooklyn last year, the main roster could now be a brand new canvas.

Given that this was a triple threat match, neither woman had to pin each other, they could easily have pinned Dana instead, so why didn’t they? Perhaps Dana has a much bigger story line coming up for her and Charlotte whilst Bayley and Sasha fight it out for the title?

The last time a match ended with both women’s shoulders down was back in February when Becky Lynch and Sasha fought it out for the right to face Charlotte for her Championship at WrestleMania. The match was then turned into a triple threat match after the decision couldn’t be made.

Becky has since been drafted over to SmackDown where she finally holds the Women’s Championship, which is her first ever title in WWE. But looking back at WWE’s actions ahead of the biggest event of the year, there could be another twist in store.

Earlier rumors this week stated that officials been told to stop promoting Charlotte vs Sasha for the Women’s title at Clash of Champions, could this be because WWE are going to allow Sasha to work a much easier match and bring in Bayley to help?

Sasha is quite obviously still injured even though she has managed to avoid back surgery and she needs the time to recover, she was only away from WWE for two weeks, which wouldn’t be enough time for her to rehab the injury.

This could be an interesting way for WWE to add Bayley to the match if they stated that they had reviewed the tape and it turns out both women should be the number one contender so they are going to allow Bayley to be a part of the match.

This would help Sasha so that she wouldn’t have to be a part of a full one-on-one match until her back is 100 percent and it would also be exactly what the WWE Universe has wanted to see for a long time.

Three of the four horsewomen fighting it out for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that the match will steal the show. Clash of Champions is now less than two weeks away but the company could easily announce that the match has been changed next week on Raw as a way to build the match up even further and perhaps further anger Charlotte in the process.

If there is no mention of the incident on Raw next week then it will clearly be a sign that the ending was a botch but if WWE decide to bring the fact to life then it will be their way of adding Bayley to the match and finally giving the WWE Universe exactly what they want.
