We’re only a few weeks away from the annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view which means that WrestleMania season is getting dangerously close. Sooner than later WWE will have to start putting the pieces in place for the biggest show of the year, and the company has been making some interesting moves as of late.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that originally Seth Rollins was set to be in the WWE Title match at WrestleMania 38. Plans called for Rollins to face the winner of the Royal Rumble with Big E being the favorite, and Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley also being possibilities.

It was also noted that the WWE Championship match for WrestleMania 38 may remain the same, but WWE will have to change course in regards to how they will get there creatively.

Brock Lesnar was added to the WWE Championship match at the Day 1 pay-per-view last weekend after Roman Reigns was pulled from the show due to a positive COVID-19 test, and Lesnar went on to win the title in the main event. Following the show it was reported that original plans called for Seth Rollins to win the belt before Brock was added, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here.

Seth Rollins made a surprise appearance on Friday Night SmackDown this week and it was indicated that he will be challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but according to the WWE on FOX Twitter account that match has not been made official as of this writing.
