We’re only a few weeks away from the Royal Rumble pay-per-view which means that WrestleMania season is right around the corner. WWE is putting all of the pieces in place for their biggest show of the year, but the company has had to make some adjustments over the last few weeks.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that originally WWE wanted to book Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Title, Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship and Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 38.

It’s also being reported that Seth Rollins was originally set to defend the WWE Championship agains Big E, Kevin Owens or Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania. It’s being said that Rollins likely would have faced the Royal Rumble winner with Big E being the favorite.

With Lesnar now in possession of the WWE Championship there’s speculation that WWE could have Roman Reigns drop the Universal Title to Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble in order to switch the Universal Title to Raw. If that does happen it’s unlikely that Reigns would lose the title clean, and Heyman and Lesnar getting involved to cost him the title could be a possibility for the storyline.

Sasha Banks is expected to be back in time for WrestleMania, but it’s not clear if her absence will cause WWE to change plans. There is no obvious direction for SmackDown without Banks, but it’s worth noting that both Sasha Banks and Bayley are likely to return sometime in March.

Stay tuned for more updates on WrestleMania 38 as they become available.
