Dean Ambrose defeated The Miz on SmackDown Live a few weeks ago to become the new Intercontinental Champion, and ever since then Ambrose has been carrying the belt with pride. The Intercontinental Championship belt with the white strap seems to be popular among fans, but it appears that the current champion is getting a little sick of it.

On the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, Dean Ambrose confronted Commissioner Shane McMahon backstage, and he told him that he needs a new belt. Ambrose told Shane that the current IC Title belt smells like “cocoa butter, spray tan, hair gel and some kind of cucumber.” Dean followed up by telling Shane McMahon that the belt is all sticky because of The Miz, and McMahon responded by telling Dean that he can’t help him out.

Despite Shane McMahon’s refusal to help Dean Ambrose out on his conquest for a new belt, rumor has it that a new strap could be coming to WWE. Reddit user dvizzle, better known as Da Belt Guy, recently noted on Twitter that a new IC Title belt is on the way.

In 2016 dvizzle broke the story about the Universal Title design, saying that it would be the same as the WWE Championship only red. In regards to what the new title will look like, the following description was posted:

“I was told they were looking into a new IC belt back in November, but a different source said they are replacing both Midcard belts. No eta, no clue on design other than it’s NOT copies of the Big Logo.”

It will be interesting to see when and/or if these new title belts debut, but it certainly seems that a change was being teased on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live.

With the Tag Team Title belts recently getting a makeover, it could be argued that both the IC Title belt and the US Title belt are long overdue for a makeover. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
