When you’re in the public eye like Mike Kanellis then it can sometimes be hard to keep your private life to yourself. Therefore Mike has chosen to deal with one of the hardest things he’s ever had to go through by doing it out in the open where everyone can see, with the hope that others might also be inspired by his actions.

Mike and Maria Kanellis joined the SmackDown Live brand a few months ago when they debuted at Money In The Bank, and since then they’ve been trying to spread their message about The Power Of Love with their absolutely infectious entrance music.

But Mike recently revealed that he was dealing with a secret addiction and he decided to get clean.

His recovery seems to be going well, because Mike revealed on Twitter that he’s been clean for almost two months now.

Through Mike’s battle with addiction his wife Maria has been by his side supporting him, and she recently decided to share some photos on Instagram that tell the story of Mike’s first week of recovery.

“This was the first week of my husband’s recovery from prescription drugs. This was the hardest week of my life. People try and give advice or you can read every book but the truth is there is no right way for a person to get clean. My husband was addicted to prescription drugs and I didn’t know. You blame yourself. You blame the business. You blame God. But, anyone can become addicted. No one is safe. A glamorous job doesn’t protect you from addiction. It truly makes you wonder about everyone around you. Is that person hurting? What’s that person’s story? In these photos you see Mike in the hospital, finding his appetite, trying to workout, having a match for the first time at WWE, and playing with my niece with the marks from the Clonidine patch the hospital gave him still on his arm. Addicts don’t look like the people in the movies sometimes. They are just people that took a road they shouldn’t have. Mike is doing great. He channeled all that energy into working out and being healthy. Mike wanted to quit. Now, as we move forward even though the road is hard. It’s the right road. I love you, My Friend. WE believe in you. You are a hero to so many. Keep Fighting. Keep Pushing. Be the Miracle. @therealmichaelbennett #keepingupwithkanellises #holdhandsnothate #poweroflove”

Mike also decided to share a picture showing how much his physique has changed since he made the decision to get clean.

“The picture on the left I took over two months ago, before I decided to get clean. The picture on the right was taken a few days ago. When something controls your every thought, of every minute of every day, you stop thinking about what’s truly important to you. We lose sight of our hopes and dreams. We lose sight of our health. Addiction not only attacks your mind, but it attacks your body. You let everything go. But believe me, the feeling of my old self and my old healthy self, is better than any medicine. Life is beautiful again, and if I can do it, YOU CAN TOO!#theresalwayshope”
