Fans of Lucha Underground might be disappointed to find out the promotion may not have much of a future. They haven’t historically done amazing in the ratings but the El Rey network has still stuck with the show through its third season.

As the company progressed some of their top performers have left. Due to the fact they tape all of the episodes for one season in a two or three-day span their roster is free to work for other promotions. However, Penta 0M is no longer with the company and reports were Rey Mysterio wasn’t coming back either. Johnny Mundo is now Johnny Impact over in GFW as well.

The fact is there might not be that much time left because there haven’t been any reports about a fourth season of the fast-paced show so far.

Bryan Alvarez recently discussed this on Wrestling Observer Live and shed some light on the situation. It might not look too good for Lucha Underground unless they announce another run of episodes.

Then again, there’s always the chance for them to pick the show up for another season. But at this point it appears like the time fans have to spend in The Temple is limited.

“Ultima Lucha is coming up, we only got a few weeks left of Lucha Underground and then maybe it goes away forever,” Alvarez said. “There is no fourth season taped, there’s no fourth season that is being talked about being taped.”

“So if we’re ever gonna see it again first they have to tape the season, then they have to edit the season, and then they have to put the season on television. So one way or the other Lucha Underground’s got about four weeks left for the foreseeable future.”

      • Well, the first 2 season are on Netflix now. The third I’m sure when it’s done will follow suit. I look forward to Wednesdays every weel cause of LU. I’d hate to see it end. I’ve never had so much fun watching wrestling in years.
