john cena

A few years ago John Cena talked a lot of trash about The Rock in an attempt to get him to return to WWE. Cena called The Rock out for abandoning WWE, and Cena’s tactics worked. The two men ended up facing off at both WrestleMania 28 and WrestleMania 29 with Rock winning the first match and Cena claiming a victory the second time around.

Nowadays John Cena’s career is starting to look similar to The Rock’s, as he’s been taking more and more time off from WWE to work on outside projects. The fifteen time World Champion appeared on this week’s episode of Talking Smack, and he revealed that his opinion on The Rock has changed drastically over the past few years.

“I consider what I said back then the stupidest stuff ever. I was looking at it through very blinded eyes, and I really wanted The Rock to come back to the WWE, and I figured that hitting him where it hurts would get him back to the WWE, and it worked. But I’ve apologized to him in person and I’m on the web for everyone to see. I was wrong, he was right. He’s now the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he has transcended this business, and I think any time a superstar can give what he’s given to the WWE, and then transcend the WWE, that’s good for all of us.”

John Cena said he’s sick of all the crap, and all the gossip about him being angry with WWE, and WWE being angry with him. He said he loves WWE, but if he’s offered good opportunities outside of the company he’s going to take them. He added that people act like he’s got one foot out the door, but his career is not over yet.

AJ Styles then made his way out to interrupt John Cena, and Cena told him that at the Royal Rumble he’s going to take the title from him, and AJ told responded by telling him at the Rumble he’s going to do what he does best, beat up John Cena.

Styles left and Cena said he’s not even focused on winning his 16th World Title, he’s focused on earning back the respect he feels he’s lost because people think he’s gone, but he’s still here. Before he left he told Renee Young that it’s not the New Era, it’s the My Time Is Now Era, and when he says something like that he backs it up.

  1. Cena should apologize for his WM Rock rematch. I’m glad he’s getting those opportunities though. Any wrestler that can move on from taking bumps and beatings and leave with his health, more power to them. And in Cena’s case, I welcome it. The wWe has changed for the better in his absence. Vince can see that a one man show isn’t necessary. I also welcome back #beatupjohnCena lol.
