CM Punk has been away from WWE now for almost three years and despite the fact that he has made the switch to UFC, former WWE World Champion John Cena still thinks that Punk will make a return to the company where he found fame because it’s best for business.

Cena was asked about Vince McMahon and if he would ever bring CM Punk back to the company during a recent interview with TMZ and his response was rather basic.

He said: “If I know one thing about my boss Vince McMahon, he always does what’s good for business, if it’s good for business it will work out. The name in the question doesn’t matter about that, if it’s good for business it’ll work out.”Cena obviously knows Vince McMahon better than any other WWE Superstar, Cena has been a part of the company for 14 years and is a former 15 time World Champion. He has carried the company on his shoulders for the best part of his career and has obviously become one of Vince’s friends during this time.

CM Punk was fired from WWE on his wedding day in 2014 and after what was a rather revealing interview on the Colt Cabana podcast later in the year, Punk is now being sued by WWE doctor Chris Amann after the defamatory comments that were made.

The longest reigning World Champion of the modern era then went on to compete in UFC and even though he lost his first match with Mickey Gall in just over two minutes, Dana White has hinted that Punk could still have a future with the martial arts based promotion.

WWE are not calling out for CM Punk right now, but it is well known that if Punk did return to the company then it would definitely be something that would help raise the ratings of the show.

Since the Brand Split SmackDown has faired much better with ratings but is about to lose three of its biggest stars following No Mercy. This could then leave the Blue Brand in bad shape.

Cena isn’t the only superstar that has said that CM Punk could be returning to WWE, with many others thinking that after his first UFC match was deemed a failure, The Best in the World could make a return to the company.

Many of the WWE Universe find it highly unlikely that Punk would ever return to WWE because of the heat between himself and Triple H. Punk was supposed to face the COO at WrestleMania 30 and it was one of the reasons why Punk decided to walk away from the company following the 2014 Royal Rumble.

With the Brand Split now in effect, Vince could easily bring back CM Punk if he was willing to come and place him on the SmackDown brand so that Punk and Triple H don’t actually have to cross paths backstage.

Even though Cena seems to think Vince can convince Punk to return to the company, it doesn’t mean he actually can. Punk can be a stubborn individual and if he doesn’t see a future with WWE then he wont return just to help boost the company’s ratings.

Cena does need someone big to feud with when he returns to the WWE after filming of American Grit is wrapped. His feud with Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles doesn’t seem like it could last much longer and even though CM Punk and Cena already had a headline feud back in 2011, during The Summer of Punk, it would be a fantastic angle if Vince could find a way to make it work.

Obviously Triple H and Stephanie are the two road blocks that are in the way of a return for the former World Champion, but there are many more obsticles in the way of this plan working out. Cena may want someone huge to feud with, but CM Punk doesn’t seem like a likley option.
