John Cena is without a doubt the single most polarizing figure in professional wrestling. All around the world people chant both for and against him. He has the WWE fanbase split right down the middle. There are certainly reasons why Cena sucks but there are also a lot of reasons why he doesn’t suck. Today we’re going to take a look at some of the reasons John Cena doesn’t suck.

He Never Gives Up

John Cena is booked like Superman and there’s a good reason for that, he is Superman. The character he plays onscreen isn’t unlike the man he is in his day to day life. After spending 12 years at the top of the biggest wrestling company in existence, it’s safe to say John Cena has learned a thing or two about perseverance.

Aside from the way he’s booked, John Cena is one tough man. He’s had several injuries that most likely would have ended someone else’s career and not only does he return, he returns ahead of schedule every single time. Some people may argue against the fact that Cena returns from injury so quickly but his determination speaks volumes about how strong this man truly is both mentally and physically.

Looking beyond all of the physical stuff, he takes a lot of emotional abuse from the fans. Every city he goes to at least half of the fanbase wants to rip his throat out and never once has he let that get to him. Many other high profile wrestlers have snapped and lashed out at the fans but John Cena has never once let on that the hate bothers him. He always gives a smile, then a nod and puts on the best show he possibly can.

He Brings Out The Best In People

All too often John Cena is accused of burying people but if you look back over the past few years, he’s done a lot of good for the WWE roster. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and others likely wouldn’t be the household names they are today if not for John Cena. John Cena is the top dog and everyone wants his spot, which in turn brings out the best in every wrestler that goes against him.

Bray Wyatt, Damien Sandow and Cesaro are three great examples of stars that finally lived up to their full potential when they stepped up against Cena. People say Cena buried Wyatt, but how is being a part of one of the biggest matches during one of the biggest WrestleManias of all time getting buried? People say he buried Cesaro, but the fact of the matter is, Cesaro’s matches with John Cena are arguably the best matches Cesaro has had since coming to the main roster. The same can be said about Sandow. Sandow’s entire WWE career has been mostly forgettable but he has talent and his little mini feud with Cena showed that if given the chance, Sandow could be a main event player.

Simply working with John Cena gives many up and comers the rub that they so desperately need. They don’t have to win, and let’s face it, you know they wont. WWE isn’t going to let anyone outshine their top dog but the important part is that these people shine nonetheless. Sure Cesaro, Wyatt and Sandow might not be doing all that great at the moment, but Cena has absolutely nothing to do with how they’re booked after his feud with them ends. It’s WWE that drops the ball when they should be taking advantage of the exposure that these up and comers get from working with someone like John Cena.

For every superstar that someone thinks John Cena buried, there’s another one that he put on the map. Losing to The Miz at WrestleMania is a tough pill to swallow, but Cena did it. It doesn’t even begin to stop there. Edge, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus and countless others were always going to be great, but it was John Cena that put them on the map.

He’s A Legend

Cry all you want about John Cena reaching legend status but get it out of your system quick. Ok, are you done now? There’s no argument here, John Cena is a legend. No one else in the history of this business has managed to have the type of run he’s had. You don’t get to win 15 World Championships if you suck.

You might not be willing to admit it, but over the past 12 years, Cena has given the world some of the most memorable feuds that will be talked about for years to come. Feuds with guys like Punk, Bryan, Edge, Orton, Shawn Michael, Triple H, JBL, Brock Lesnar and countless others have been written into the history books and with good reason. Although some people don’t see it now, the WWE will be hurting when John Cena hangs up his boots. The WWE needs high profile stars and they need John Cena to create high profile stars.

When it comes to professional wrestling, Cena has done it all and then some. He could have walked away and left many years ago but he stays to help the business. Like it or not, when people talk about the all time greats of professional wrestling, John Cena’s name will be a part of that conversation.

The Company Man

People all too often blame John Cena for his career but the truth is much of the blame lies on Vince McMahon and others that have shoved John Cena down our throats. Cena has said in recent interviews that he definitely has it in him to turn heel, but he just does what he’s told.

There aren’t many big time stars around professional wrestling at the moment and the truth is, John Cena is largely responsible for keeping the ship afloat. Recent reports have stated that John Cena’s merchandise sales are bigger than the entire roster’s merchandise sales combined. That’s no easy feat right there. One can only imagine the amount of money that adds up to.

John Cena never gives up, he never takes days off and he can carry the entire weight of the WWE on his shoulders. How many other men can say that?

A Class Act That Cares About The Fans

It doesn’t take too many Google searches to big up stories about wrestlers that have lashed out against the fans in public. CM Punk and Randy Orton are simply two names that are notorious for being rude to fans in real life. The fact of the matter is you can Google search all day and you probably won’t find one single story about John Cena being rude to a fan. That’s because no matter how beat up, sick or tired he is, this man always has time for the fans.

We already mentioned how John Cena absorbs more hate than any other wrestler in existence and he never lets that get to him. Even after spending the night in front of an audience that boos him, he would still take a picture with his biggest hater and wear the biggest smile while doing it.

There are many wrestlers out there that the fans adore and the sad truth is, most of them probably don’t give a damn about you. But when it comes to John Cena, he cares.
