Last week on Raw, Kevin Owens ended his friendship with Chris Jericho and this week he opened the show with a serious promo. Owens is set to defend his Universal Title against Goldberg at Fastlane on March 5th, and he let the world know that he’s not intimidated by the former WCW Champion.
The promo was one of the best promos Kevin has cut in a while and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross took notice. Ross noted in his latest blog that he feels Kevin Owens was the star of this week’s show.
“From my perspective, Kevin Owens was the star of Monday Night Raw as his show opening, in ring promo was excellent and was arguably Owens’ best verbal work since arriving in WWE. His pending WM33 bout with Chris Jericho has show stealing potential and should prove to be a major win for KO at the WWE’s biggest event. Owens is blessed that he’s in a program with Jericho who is as good a performer as WWE is currently featuring.”
Jim Ross wasn’t the only one who had high praise for Kevin Owens. The Rock also met up with Kevin Owens Monday night when he was backstage for Raw and he shared a photo of himself with the current Universal Champion on Instagram.
The Rock also shared a story about how he came across a Kevin Steen video a few years and he noted that it makes him happy to see good things happen to good people. However, he did call Owens a derogatory name because apparently Rock is jealous of Kevin’s ability to grow a sweet beard.
