Every deal in pro wrestling is unique especially when you’re talking about a guy like Goldberg. So only time will tell if anything materializes concerning this story. But with Goldberg planned to headline the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony this year, that usually means WWE has signed at least some kind of short-term deal with the former Universal Champion.

However, New Japan is doing things in a big way and with Wrestle Kingdom 12 being such a huge draw worldwide it seems only logical that they would look toward the next step for the company. After all, NJPW snagged Chris Jericho and it looks like he could be sticking around for a while, therefore, the next logical idea would be to try and get another huge name.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted New Japan was in talks with Goldberg to bring him in for a few big shows. It wasn’t specified if he’d be wrestling, but if Goldberg is still in fighting shape that might not only be surprising seeing how much effort it takes but it could also mean he might step in the ring for WWE once again if they can work something out.

It’s probably better for Goldberg to not compete in New Japan and just stick with WWE, after all, he injured himself during his entrance and later while spearing Rusev during a segment so just imagine what kind of damage a guy with the hard-hitting tight move set of a New Japan performer might do to the face of WCW.

Although this deal might not amount to much seeing how WWE is inducting Goldberg into their Hall Of Fame, it is important to note a couple of things with this story. Not only is New Japan looking to build themselves and possibly bring in some more big money names for special events, but also WWE’s induction of Goldberg came at a perfect time to possibly keep Goldberg out of a competitor’s hands.

However, those things might not have anything to do with each other and it was just impeccable timing. But also, as far as something actually coming to fruition between NJPW and Goldberg, you can never say never in pro wrestling.
