goldberg

Goldberg returned to WWE in the fall of 2016 for one match with Brock Lesnar and the match got so much attention that WWE decided to extend his deal. Now Goldberg is the current Universal Champion and he’s set to defend his title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando on Sunday.

Prior to his return Goldberg had been away from the WWE for 13 years, so he’s had to do some intense training to get himself conditioned for in-ring work. Apparently the training has been rough for Goldberg and during a recent appearance on Edge and Christian’s podcast he admitted that his current WWE run has made him miserable, but his family seems to be enjoying it (via Wrestling Inc).

“I’ll be honest, I’m miserable. I’m absolutely miserable. But my family’s having fun, man. And so, every single thing, every training session, every ART massage that makes me cry, every muay thai session, it’s all worth it, man. It’s just worth it. And, hey, at the end of the day, if I want to smile, I’ll buy a car. That’s how I’m happy. I did, I bought one on the way back from [Survivor Series in] Toronto because I worked my ass off.”

Not only has his return taken a toll on his body, it’s also taken a toll on him mentally as well as he also revealed that he’s been under a lot of stress.

“Nobody get me wrong when I say I’ve been miserable throughout this, but I am. I’m miserable. I’m bloated 24 hours a day. I’m stressed 24 hours a day. I don’t sleep, but it’s a small price to pay.”

Although he may be miserable now, the current Universal Champion may feel differently after Sunday, as right now he’s not being advertised for any WWE appearances beyond WrestleMania 33. The former WCW star also recently took to Instagram to thank fans and he hinted that his current run is coming to an end soon.

Who will you be rooting for at WrestleMania 33 on Sunday, Goldberg or Brock Lesnar? Sound off in the comments below.
