intercontinental champion

It’s an interesting time to be a WWE fan, that’s for sure. You never really know who might show up on Raw, SmackDown Live, NXT or a WWE pay-per-view nowadays. The Hardy Boyz returned at WrestleMania, and Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis recently joined the SmackDown Live roster at Money in the Bank, and now it looks like a former WWE Intercontinental Champion could be returning to the company.

Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Shelton Benjamin is in talks to make his WWE return. Last summer when the WWE brand split returned, WWE started airing promo videos advertising Benjamin’s return to SmackDown Live. Unfortunately Benjamin later discovered that he was injured, and he had to undergo surgery which prevented him from returning.

Luckily the former WWE Intercontinental Champion is healthy once again, but he noted on Twitter after he was cleared to return to the ring that he is a free agent, and he never signed a deal with WWE last summer when they announced his return.

According to the report, Benjamin’s new deal isn’t done yet, but things are looking good for him to return to SmackDown Live once the deal is finalized and creative plans for his return are put in place.
