Eric Bischoff is widely regarded as one of the most creative minds in pro wrestling. His astute ability to build a program and smack fans in the face with a surprise was uncanny. On a recent episode of Bischoff On Wresting, he talked about how he would have booked a few of wrestling’s most famous moments if he had total control.

Bischoff was asked about the ending of the New World Order and how he would have concluded the famous stable if he were given the opportunity. Of course, he had a great part in the nWo’s formation, but as WCW continued downhill he lost/gave up control and never saw the story out completely.

“The nWo would have stormed into Ted Turner’s office and literally thrown him out of his office and Kevin Nash or Scott Hall would have sat behind Ted Turner’s desk, cracked open a Cuban cigar and welcomed everybody to The New World Order Organization. We would have tossed Ted Turner out of his own office.”

So, there you have it. If Eric Bischoff would have had his choice he would have never ended the nWo. He would have just had the entire WCW company being ran by the New World Order from that point onward. That would have been interesting to say the least.

Things got even more intriguing when he was asked how he would have booked his own WWE debut. Fans throughout the years have criticized WWE for spoiling the Bischoff surprise by interrupting a backstage interview with Booker T and Johnathan Coachman.

Before Bischoff’s debut on Raw, Coachman was doing his own version of Booker’s spinaroonie. Suddenly, Eric walked up to Booker T and shook his hand. Afterward Booker T uttered the famous line: “tell me I didn’t just see that.” But Bischoff had a different idea on how he would have written things.

“I would have probably done it differently because I’ve always built my progress on surprise and shock. And once you kind of tip your hand to the audience, you dilute that opportunity. So I would have done it differently.”

Bischoff’s surprise angle might have caught a of people off guard. But it wouldn’t have given so many people the chance to call their friends to tell them Eric Bischoff is on Raw and things are about to heat up in a hurry.

Eric went on to explain exactly what he would have done to introduce himself to the WWE Universe.

“It’s one of those situations where I don’t think there’s any one right answer. I think both strategies were probably valid. And you know, it was a toss of a coin […] Here’s how I would have done that. I would have snuck me into the arena at ringside. I would have put me in makeup. I would have had Vince do his big build up, and I would have said, ‘sitting here in the front row is the next Raw General Manager.’ And I would have taken off my hat and sunglasses and I would have walked into the ring and shocked everybody. And then I would have walked through the backstage area and watched the reaction of the talent. That’s the difference between the way I would have done it and the way Vince McMahon did it.”

  1. “Eric Bischoff is widely regarded as one of the most creative minds in pro wrestling.” Bullshit. He had one good idea once and rode it into the ground and just said he’d have rode it even further into the ground.
