emmalina

WWE has been teasing the repackaging of Emma into Emmalina since October of last year. She started making house show appearances, but the “Premiering Soon” vignettes kept airing on Raw with no arrival date mentioned. Emmalina was scheduled to make her main roster debut on December 12th, but that edition of Raw came and went without Emmalina in sight.

There were rumors that her debut on December 12th was cut simply due to time constraints, but fans wondered if she would ever make her main roster re-emergence. Emma was actually fired in July, 2014 (only to be rehired that same day) but her reputation really never improved on the main roster.

Before that she was subjugated to a role as a comedic sidekick to Santino Marella, but when The Cobra was released in in May of last year all hope of that team reforming was cast aside.

Emma had a couple other abandoned angles since her main roster debut, and just as they paired her with Dana Brooke to form a heel team of blonde vixens, she suffered a back injury at a live event that required surgery.

However, Emma has remained active on social media, posting pictures of her on beaches, beside pools, and other glamorous photos of WWE’s first Australian female superstar. But still no debut, the only promise fans received was that she would be premiering “soon.”

Dave Meltzer noted that it had become a backstage joke at a certain point, and that is never a good thing. Last week’s Raw didn’t feature any Emmalina promos after the commercial break because they were running Royal Rumble slideshows as the bumpers, and not many people seemed to really notice. Then WWE dropped a sexy bombshell on us all when they announced last night that Emmalina would be premiering next week on Raw.

Emma corroborated this fact as she promoted her debut as well. She said that she’ll see us next week, but there are still more than a few skeptics as to how she’ll be used if she “arrives” at all.

One interesting thing to note is that her debut is strangely timed to coincide with the WWE Women’s Title match where Charlotte will put her title on the line against Bayley. Emma has never had a direct allegiance with Ms. Flair before, in fact the two actually battled in NXT. But, nothing is stopping some kind of shenanigans from happening at this point.

Bayley probably won’t win the Women’s Championship on Raw next week, unless they do another quick switch back to Charlotte at Fastlane. According to recent reports Charlotte is set to walk into WrestleMania with her title in a fatal four-way match with Bayley, Nia, and Sasha. Whether or not Charlotte will finally suffer her first main roster pay-per-view loss is the real question. Then again, in a match like that Charlotte doesn’t have to get pinned to lose her title. Ergo, it is possible for her to drop her title and still maintain her record (in a sense).

Dana Brooke hasn’t been in Charlotte’s corner for a while now, she last made an appearance to help Charlotte on December 26th when she was chosen to be a special referee to help her beat Bayley. Charlotte just might need someone on her side during a championship match-up on Raw. It is important to remember that while Charlotte has yet to lose a pay-per-view match, Monday night is still fair game for her to lose that title.

Emmalina has made a few house show appearances where she performed the duties of a heel special referee, so that’s not off the table either. Charlotte, after all does love using her friends to help her.

All speculation as to how they will use Emma upon her return aside, there is still a high probability that this could all just be another ruse.

But, we’ve been so good. We deserve Emmalina’s debut, or at least for those promos to stop. Don’t ya think?
