Edge did the impossible when he returned from a career ending injury at the Royal Rumble earlier this year.

He then went on to face off against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36, and at the Backlash pay-per-view.

Randy Orton and Edge certainly aren’t strangers, as they have a long history together, and during a recent interview on Busted Open Radio the Rated R Superstar explained why he picked Edge to be his first opponent, and which stars he wants to face in the future.

“That being said, I needed him to see if I could do this. Sure, I want to get in there with Aleister Black, Austin Theory, Damian Priest, Angel Garza [and] Cesaro. God, there’s so many guys I want to get in there with, but I needed to start with Randy to see where I was at. I had to start with Randy, and I knew that coming back [and] having this cherry of a story dropped on his lap that Randy would step up. He just needed something to be able to sink his teeth into.”

Edge unfortunately suffered an injury while taping his Backlash match against Randy Orton, so it’s going to be a while before he’s in the ring again. But it doesn’t sound like he’s done with The Viper just yet, as he noted that he pictures their feud as being a trilogy, so don’t be surprised if we see one more match between the two stars in the future.
