Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn recently reunited a few weeks ago, and they’ve been trying to turn SmackDown Live into the Sami and Kevin Show. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn both appeared on SmackDown Live this week, however, they have reportedly been sent home from WWE’s European tour.

Pro Wrestling Sheet is now reporting that the reason why they were sent home is because they went against a creative directive that was given to them before SmackDown Live on Tuesday.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens appeared in the opening segment of SmackDown Live, and after they went back and forth with The New Day on the mic for a little while, a match was booked between Sami Zayn and Kofi Kingston.

Kingston ended up winning the match, and apparently that’s when Zayn and Owens went off script.

Creative plans reportedly called for Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens to receive a beatdown courtesy of The New Day, and after the bell rang Kevin Owens jumped in the ring and attacked Kofi Kingston.

Owens’ attack on Kingston was planned, but after throwing a few punches, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn bailed and left the ring. New Day then waited in the ring, and there was an awkward pause where the sound crew didn’t play any music after the match.

The segment ended awkwardly due to Zayn and Owens not taking the planned beating.

PWS also notes that multiple sources claim that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been difficult to work with as of late, and they seem unhappy backstage.

It’s worth noting that Sports Illustrated is reporting that they’ve also heard from multiple sources internally and externally that Vince McMahon sent the duo home for “going into business for themselves” on SmackDown.
