great balls of fire

WWE’s upcoming July pay-per-view for the Raw brand isn’t just an event with a funny name. It is also a show that is shaping up to have a pretty good card so far.

Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe (Universal Title Match)

Joe won in surprise fashion to cap off Extreme Rules and became the #1 contender for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Title. Since then Joe’s been on the warpath by making Brock’s advocate suffer for him. Joe wants to send home a message and is looking to capture the red team’s top title.

Regardless of who wins this match Roman Reigns wants a shot at the Universal Champion at SummerSlam. He said so himself and that means it’s going to happen because The Big Dog gets what he wants.

If Joe pulls off a surprise win Roman would probably just end up snatching the title from him. If Brock vs Roman is still the planned main event for WrestleMania then they could always bring Lesnar back into the title picture before then.

But odds are with the story they’re telling Samoa Joe is going to suffer a defeat as Lesnar extracts revenge on his advocate’s behalf.

Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt

We can only assume the Eater Of Worlds is simply being fed to Seth Rollins here. This is an unfornate pattern Bray Wyatt often slips into.

The Architect has been chasing Bray for a while now. Rollins needs a win here and it’s likely he’ll get one over Wyatt.

The fact WWE2k18 will have his picture on it doesn’t hurt the situation for Seth. These two will be able to put together a pretty good match too.

Neville vs Akira Towaza (Cruiserweight Championship)

Neville has been riding high as the King Of The Cruiserweights and he wants to stay on his throne. But the newest addition to The Titus Brand just might have his number.

Akira is an amazing talent who might finally be getting his shot on the top of the purple rope show. If WWE keeps the title on Neville it wouldn’t be a bad decision though because he’s quickly making a reputation for himself as being a pretty good champion. He’s certainly a much better heel than he ever was a babyface.

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman (Ambulance Match)

We love us some ambulance matches. Some really stiff action can happen here. The genius part of this match is Roman can lose and not get pinned. Neither guy will lose heat if they book it properly which is hopefully their plan.

If WWE is able to just put on a good match with this one Braun and Roman will come off looking great just for being associated with an amazing match.

Alexa Bliss vs Sasha Banks (Raw Women’s Championship)

It was kind of a shock when Sasha made Nia Jax tap after Jax lasted over thirty minutes up to that point in the gauntlet match. It really looked like WWE was going to put over the girl who’s not like most girls.

But Sasha Banks made Jax submit and earned a shot at Little Miss Bliss and her title. One of the most intriguing parts of this whole story might be what’s going on with Bayley. She was once thought of as the next big female star but now she’s losing the first round of the gauntlet match to Nia Jax in under three minutes.

Jax vs Banks might be the way WWE is going for SummerSlam at this point because it seems to be the larger story they’re telling. But this would include transitioning Nia into a babyface role which would probably fit her better at this point. For this to become a reality Sasha Banks probably won’t walk out of Great Balls Of Fire with the title.

It’s also likely we’ll see Finn Balor vs Elias Samson and Goldust vs R-Truth added to the show too. They also need to figure out something to do with the Raw Tag Team Championships too.

WWE Great Balls Of Fire might not turn out to be so funny after all.
