A few months ago The Shield reunited, and shortly after the reunion, Roman Reigns challenged The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event of Monday Night Raw.

Reigns managed to defeat The Miz and after he won the belt he became not only the Intercontinental Champion, but a Grand Slam Champion as well.

After the match The Shield put The Miz through the announce table with a triple powerbomb, and The Awesome One took some time away from WWE so he could film “The Marine 6: Close Quarters.”

Since then Roman Reigns has been defending his Intercontinental Championship against all comers on Raw, and this week he finally defended the belt against the former champion, The Miz.

Before the match started, WWE introduced some of the “greatest General Managers in the history of Raw.” John Laurinaitis, William Regal and Eric Bischoff all made their way out to the stage, and then Daniel Bryan was announced a special guest.

The crowd went wild for Bryan, but he was interrupted as The Miz made his way down to the ring for the match after Bryan and Miz had a quick stare down.

Reigns and Miz battled back and forth for a while, and eventually the referee ordered The Miztourage to leave the ringside area. They didn’t listen, and they distracted Reigns who hit them with a Superman Punch, and then he ate a Skull Crushing Finale from The Miz while he was distracted, but Reigns kicked out.

Miz then went for another Skull Crushing Finale, but Reigns got out of it. Miz ended up in the corner, and he moved out of the way as Reigns charged right into the turnbuckle.

Reigns went face fist into an exposed turnbuckle (it was revealed after the match that The Miz removed the padding earlier while Roman Reigns distracted) and Miz followed up with another Skull Crushing Finale to win the Intercontinental Championship for the 8th time in his career.
