Batista took on all comers during his time as a WWE Superstar, but over the last few years he’s been focused on his acting career.

The former WWE Champion has found success playing Drax in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, and director James Gunn played a major role in shaping the first two films.

Gunn had been working on the script for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” but he was recently fired after some offensive tweets from his past resurfaced online.

Batista recently spoke to ShortList, and praised Gunn for his kindness.

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man. I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

He then went on to say that if Marvel doesn’t end up using James Gunn’s script he will ask to leave the franchise.

“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”
