John Cena defeated Baron Corbin at SummerSlam a few weeks ago, and the next night he made the most of his free agent status when he made the jump from SmackDown Live to Monday Night Raw. Cena announced that he moved to Raw to call out one certain wrestler, and that’s when Roman Reigns interrupted him and all hell broke loose.
John Cena vs. Roman Reigns is now officially set for the No Mercy pay-per-view on September 24, and WWE has been hyping up the contest as a “WrestleMania worthy” match. No Mercy is shaping up to be a big event with Cena vs. Reigns on the card and Brock Lesnar is also set to defend his Universal Championship against the Monster Among Men Braun Strowman.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials are looking ahead to WrestleMania and the idea is to build up Roman Reigns for a coronation as the top star in the company.
In regards to who will win the match at No Mercy, the whole point of the match is to get Roman Reigns ove, but if he does end up losing it’s because WWE officials feel a loss would be more effective in getting Roman over in the long run.
As noted, it’s been rumored that the plan is for Roman Reigns to face Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34.
