This week a controversial WWE Diva contract signing closed out Monday Night Raw. Here we are several days removed from the segment and people can’t stop talking about it. However there seems to be some debate over who came up with the idea to mention Charlotte’s late brother Reid during the segment and how it came about.
PWInsider is reporting that the idea was presented to Charlotte and that she was able to give her feedback and input in regards to the verbiage that would be used during the segment. The contract signing was meant to be a way to make Charlotte sympathetic to the fans and get them behind her.
Apparently at one point Charlotte mentioned to WWE creative that her career is a tribute to her brother Reid which is where the inspiration came from. It was also noted that the angle was discussed throughout the day and some people within WWE were against it.
As we mentioned yesterday, WWE released the following statement in regards to the angle:
“Subject matter this personal is only approved as a result of the strong advocacy of the talent themselves. Notwithstanding that, WWE is ultimately responsible for what airs in its programming.”
