WrestleMania season is here, and we’re only a few weeks away from the Show of Shows. Edge secured a title shot on the Grandest Stage of Them All when he won the 30 man Royal Rumble match back in January, and he selected Roman Reigns as his opponent.

However, WWE recently switched things up as it’s been confirmed that Roman Reigns will be defending the Universal Title against Edge and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the change was a late decision made by Vince McMahon who wanted a number of things changed, and just wanted to shake things up. It’s being reported that numerous suggestions were made for the match, most of which were bad, and adding Daniel Bryan to the match was the idea that got greenlit.

At that point the feeling was that Bryan would be cheered. It’s being said that there was a lot of conjecture that Roman Reigns would have been cheered at WrestleMania, which may have been one of the reasons WWE turned Edge heel, but that’s not the reason the match was changed.

One person close to the situation claimed that the age issue was a concerning point. The concern was not regarding the number of Edge’s age but rather his look as the source noted that, “he was looking older each week.”
