Stephanie McMahon has been a key figure in WWE for decades now, and she’s been working as the company’s Chief Brand Officer since 2013. Earlier today McMahon got the wrestling world talking when she announced that she will be taking a leave of absence to focus on her family.
PWInsider reports that internally it seems that no one but the inner most circle had any idea that Stephanie McMahon’s announcement was coming. It’s also being said that many were taken aback by the news and completely shocked when it was announced.
There are reportedly many people reaching out within WWE and beyond the company to try and find out what led to Stephanie McMahon’s decision to take a leave of absence.
As we previously reported Stephanie McMahon posted the following statement on Twitter earlier today:
As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.
